Trip Planning Tip, Disney Dining Plan Edition: Last Minute Reservations

Well, free dining plan season is almost upon us.  Have you booked a free dining plan?  Are you having trouble filling up some of your reservations?  Try some of these spots, they usually have reservations available at the last minute (which does not speak negatively about the food!)

The Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is all about horses, and has a lot of special Disney touches honoring the horses of Disney films, including one of my personal favorites, Samson from Sleeping Beauty
The Turf Club Bar and Grill (Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, Downtown Disney Area) - The Turf Club is a great last minute place for a reservation, because not a lot of people know about it!  With menu options including steak, the catch of the day, pasta and much more, the restaurant caters to many tastes.  Additionally, the space is beautiful with many dark woods and atmospheric lighting creating a romantic atmosphere.  There's also outdoor seating should you choose to take advantage of the beautiful (but warm) Florida weather.  In fact, the biggest problem with The Turf Club is finding it!  But worry not, all you have to do is ask the Disney bus driver or security guard (if you're driving yourself) where to find The Grandstand, which is the resort's main building.

Decor at the Cape May Cafe, which has a New England clam bake theme
Cape May Cafe (The Beach Club Resort, Epcot Area) - Cape May Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants on property (you can read my full review here).  As it turns out, it is also a great place to snag a last minute reservation, even during some of the busiest park times (such as Star Wars Weekends).  The fact that it is an all-you-can-eat buffet also makes it a great use of a child's table service dining credit, since there is no children's menu that a child must order from.

Tony's Town Square Restaurant (Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom) - Full disclosure, I have never dined at Tony's, but after a good review from a personal friend, I feel confident putting it here.  Tony's, so named for the Italian restaruant featured in Lady and the Tramp (on this lovely bella notte), serves up a number of Italian staples including spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp scampi and lasagna.  The restaurant also serves fish of the day, steak and other items, all with an Italian flare.  My friend told me that the desserts there were delicious, so be sure to order some, maybe the signature ice cream bomb?

Do you have any other suggestions for a good last minute meal?  Let us know about it in the comments!
